    Victorinox SAK Alox Cadet II

Just a quick note about the SAK Cadet II. This knife is similar to the Cadet but the nail file has been replaced by a small blade. It is an 84mm knife, the Soldier, Farmer, Electrician etc are 91mm knives. Thickness is 8mm. I think it is just about small enough to fit on a bunch of keys.

Currently on sale for 9 here:

If you will a good edge win,

Thanks Dan, but a helpful BB'er has sorted me out.

However I am at your service for the other problem. Send me a PM. My credit cards are sluts for an edge.

Re: Victorinox SAK Alox Cadet II

I now have one of these, thanks to the kind offices of Mr Yarrow.

If anyone is looking for a very slim, very light, simple, inoffensive but very practical 'Gentlemans EDC' folder this is an excellent option.

I measure the knife as being 82mm, not including the 2mm lanyard ring attachment, so it's almost a centimetre shorter than a typical Alox SAK. It's half the thickness of my Alox Farmer, which it achieves by having thinner than usual Alox scales, and thinner blades. They still cut perfectly well, obviously.

No scissors, of course, but perfectly usable bottle/can opener blades and screwdrivers.

The springs on all the blades are very, very strong as well.

Something about it brings to mind simple folders of an earlier era. I can't quite say why, but it just does.

It's the sort of knife you wouldn't notice in a shirt pocket, let alone in trousers or a jacket, and it's probably slim enough to be carried in a wallet.

Can't fault this one. Except for not having scissors.

    Looks very nice.

Now, if someone comes up with a good engineering solution to putting toothpick and tweezers into Alox scales I'll give them a big cake.

I know that I could just carry a Classic as well but it's not the same for some reason

Hooray! Could not ever see the point of the Cadet with a nailfile. Worth a small sum of anyones cash

Does it come in all the pretty colours though - like autumn orange
