    Re: shobu tanto

I am having some difficulties posting ? I f someone can combine the photos I would appreciate. the photobucket copy and paste method is a little confusing . The small tanto is hard to polish bacause of its size I used a hardened ice pick for mikagi rod it seems to work well . blade may be put in black laquered shirasaya with silver habaki comments are welcome , sorry about my post. the Blade is made from w-2 Ha is about 5 inches long (edge) almost all work is forge or file no grinder , too small of a blade for me. Ol is 7 3/4 " this is this is second one I made like this . I will try and post finished blade that was sold . I want this too be a little different . with burled walnut shirasaya with fine silver habaki Blade (guard) thanks for any comments . I don't know yet ? regards bubba

I am doing this as a special project , I will polish all scratches out that are bothersome almost a mirror polish . Then I scratch real lightly with 400 grt . (easy to do final polish ) then I will clay and ht .then temper . Then the final polish . I know its alot of extra work but . if you harden the blade and then try remove big scratch its much harder .Final polish and hamon will be kickin.... whoa!
