Re: Ah, Kifaru
My e+e hung up as a work bag. The straps work well for lashing fleeces etc.

Once you firm up that back it takes on new comfort. I have 8mm closed cell in mine - it's moving to the hunting one when it arrives and the black will be confirmed EDC, especially with the career change. Then I will add an A4 cutting mat - rigidity and practicality, but not quite as much comfort as the 8mm foam.
I LOVE Kifaru gear and if it really pisse5 you off will take that bag off your hands....There is no excuse for a dull pocket knife. It merely shows a lack of initiative.

Re: Ah, Kifaru
Right folks, sleeping bag, the pack size in the 5 cord compression sack is long and thin, its goes in anywhere without the bulk of a typical bowling ball feel as they say. Its compact. The organiser has been looked into by nathan and its being replaced FOC so I cant complain... Im happy.. and it will color match
The bag after a night on the grass, open air, was one of the best nights sleep Ive had in a long time... it moves with you, tucks you in around the neck and the baffles work so well. Ru.. sorry ya not having it mate

Re: Ah, Kifaru
Its great customer service mate, I cant fault it. The fact its free, even shipping, makes it easier to swallow to. I also get to keep the other one. Happy days. Spent hours with slickClips, tacties and all sorts of other restraints getting all the pulls/buckles sorted and out the way. Hanging the drop ins inside the pouches. Once the top straps are sorted its all ready to roll with no noise or bounce. Ive been very intimate with the pack!

Re: Ah, Kifaru
MTG, that would be awesome, surprised at the colour difference from the bag compared to my bro's woobie? Are they still made from rhino skin?

The new woobie I have has a similar sheen. After a chat with Nathan they changed the dyes to a newer color and its the same material, just newer dyes. I'll do some better pics for you at the weekend mate Im up to my danglies at the moment.

Anything else you need let me know I'll do the pics of what you need no problem

Re: Ah, Kifaru
Magic man the 5 string compression sack designed for the bag is on its way from the US. I'll do the pics when that one arrives as Ive only got an exped here at the moment.
Ive done some pics of the E&E after Ive got the straps fitted (The extra length needs trimming off with the hot knife now it sits right) All the straps are tidied up with Web Dominators, the long pockets have slik Clips inside them with the pull outs suspended from them.
Might not be to everyones taste but it works for me..
Will do better pics of the sleeping bag and things when its not raining so hard.. Ru might be along soon to offer his thoughts on the sleeping bag.. Sleeping bag for rough size compacts down to the size of a woobie....

Re: Ah, Kifaru
MTG, looks like a very nice pack, starting to think the Organiser pouch may b nice on my Zulu, defo if it goes under the XTL lid as well. ..... I'm loving the pirate patch as well!

Re: Ah, Kifaru
To be honest mate I took a lot of advice from Ru on what to order. The skinny minis on the side with drop ins tagged in the top means you can put small items in them and they hang in the pocket. You can pull it out for access but it cant be dropped or lost. If you want pics let me know.
The organiser is good for keys, pen, phone, note pad etc, I use it for a small screw top pot with half a tuff cloth in it, my pen and RITR notepad, leatherman mut, knife, cable ties etc. You could use it for EOD, detonators, crimps and det cord just as easily. Take it from bag to belt. Theres some good organisation within it if you take the time to play with it and make it logical. Front pocket for quick grab items. Internal on pull down front had a back pocket and zipped quick look mesh I keep chemical lights in as I use them a lot. Elasticated loops on top etc.. For keeping little things together in one easy on or off pouch its worth it mate. If you want pics let me know.

Re: Ah, Kifaru
Yea some pics would be handy as I'm torn between that, or getting some lock n load number 1's for under the XTL? I'd love an E&E but couldn't justify the cost as I have a Hill People Gear Tarahumara pack which I use for EDC and Day hikes etc, this is what I hope to 'Dock' to the front of the Zulu, fantastic pack, probs the most comfortable small pack ive ever owned.

Re: Ah, Kifaru
Ive taken a few more pics of the sleeping bag and wanted to offer some feedback on it so far. The rating on this one is 0F which is minus 15 degrees C as far as my poor maths tells me. Its a fluffy bag, lots of air inside and it looks like a giant sausage roll from Gregs!
Once you get in you get a feeling of cocooned almost like being in the womb again. Theres no 'cling' theres no you turn and the bag stays put meaning you cant find a way out, when you are in, its just pure comfort. When you move it moves with you, I opted for a wider bag for my shoulders as Kif said it would be awkward to do the bag up if I had not at my size. Also I opted for more length and at 6'6" the bag gives me plenty of leg room, and wriggle room. Ive had a few nights out so far, right on the grass no bivvy, no mat, just straight bag to get to grips with it. It hugs you when you move, it doesnt tighten up as you roll and move in your sleep it just moves with you. Theres a baffle behind the zip so wind cant blow through the zip making you cold, theres a baffle that sits around your neck and tucks over your shoulders making sure only your head faces the elements. I know what your thinking, loss of heat through the head? Nah, they got that sorted with the voluptuous mummy hood that fits around you allowing you to breathe without breathing into the bag causing condensation and resulting in you getting colder. Even in the warmer evenings the bag was not too hot, I didnt sweat, I didnt wake up feeling clammy. Its hard to explain in words on a forum exactly how it feels but most times getting into sleeping bags I feel a little tense, almost apprehensive. With this, I just relaxed, I just allowed the bag to wrap around, turned over and had one of the best nights sleep Ive had in ages. The bag is extremely well made, the zip is top notch quality and the tab at the top keeps the bag zipped all night. Now the weight, it weighs the same as a bag of helium. There is no weight in it at all it weights the same as a woobie or a doobie, or a jar of farts. The rhino shell material combined with this weird lining means there is no weight. Pack size, well the 5 cord bag is on the way but it compresses to a long thin light tube meaning it can go on the side of a pack or in the bottom of a pack without the cannon ball feel you get from most bags. When you take it out and allow it to fluff back up its massive and ready for action again.. its really weird, its like a portable womb.. its warm when its cold, its cool when its warm it weights next to nothing and it fits in tiny spaces.. its witchcraft!
If you compare the price to a high end bag like Carinthia or similar you get all the benefits without the weight and bulk. Same tough material, same simple construction, but it compresses smaller, and just keeps you warm.... Ru might pop along to give his view but its the best bag and nights sleep out I have ever had.. Spend your money on good boots and a good bag, its an old rule and if you are not in one you are in the other.. why compromise?
