The Bark River Knife and Tool thread...
I`ve tried searching and got 400andthensome hits, so I thought I would post some questions instead.
As there seems to be some discussion about the quality on the finishing in these knifes and some like them and others not, I would like to get "hardcore" info on them - no bickering and whining...
Have any experiences ?? good or bad - post them here..
Got any pictures ?? post them here...
Got info on how to buy them with the handling you want ?? post it here...
You get my drift...
And for the sake of clarity (and just so its said) I have no interest in the company, but have possibly spent to much time oogling "glossy" photographs on their line up...
Best regards
Harry

I don't think this topic can be broached without 'bickering and whining'. It stands a good chance of being locked, at that.

I don't think zdp 'wants' to lock the thread. Just that if it goes in the wrong direction he will lock it. There is history of bark river and BB which could make the thread go south. Let's hope not.

I don't want to lock it, but threads on this particular topic have a way of getting way out of hand and I'll ask you kindly not to post anything litigious and unsubstantiated.

Was there was a problem with BRKT or one particular distributor?
There is a world of difference.

For the record I like BRKT and Blackjack Knives products. I take them at face value and they do the job.

Regardless of the mercantile bickering in the past, the product is a good 'un, IMO.
Straight forward, solid working tools with an absolutely rock solid, no quibble guarantee. As long as you like convex grind you should have no problem.
The one fly in the ointment is/has been the sheath quality. This may have improved.
Some folks are surprised that the knife is smaller than they expected. This has never been a problem to me but is worth bearing in mind.Mike.

Re: The Bark River Knife and Tool thread...
I currently have half a dozen Barkies and like them all. I've had a load more pass through my hands and there haven't been any that I don't like, only sold on due to needing the funds.
My first choice production fixed blade is my Barkie Northstar.

Re: The Bark River Knife and Tool thread...
I've handled/used a few (northstar,Canadian) and found them to be good no nonsense knives. The only let down for me tends to be the sheath. That said the sheaths are always usable just rather generic and not very visually appealing.

Re: The Bark River Knife and Tool thread...
I have owned a few, and they are very good knives, the sheaths could be better imo, i really like the micro canadian, ans A2 is a good tough steel...

Re: The Bark River Knife and Tool thread...
I have a bravo 1 which I think is a great, solid knife. It came super sharp but the kydex sheath was pretty rubbish -it held the knife up way too high when you wore it on your belt and it fell to bits when I was camping recently. Luckily the knife didnt fall off my belt somewhere.
I am currently waiting for it to be returned from Stew who has made me a very good looking custom sheath.
Mike at BRKT was quick to answer questions and seems like a nice guy, although he did promise to send me a new sheath which never turned up and PMs regarding it were unanswered. I guess that sending a blagged sheath comes pretty low down on the things to do list at BRKT. They may have just been busy.
Hope this was helpful,
Bill

Re: The Bark River Knife and Tool thread...
I have 4 Barkies and found them to be good solid knives. Some will find the handles a bit small. I have a Northstar and although I don't have big hands the handle is only just big enough. The Mikro Canadians are great little cutters
The sheaths were a problem. When I bought the Northstar several years ago it came with a very basic sheath but then they sent a replacement sheath out F.O.C. The replacement is much better and has a firesteel holder. Looking at adverts for them now though they seem to have changed the sheath supplier yet again
