Akubra territory
Sold, to Nick, who left 'want' just long enough to become a 'need'...

Nice felt hat, which I haven't worn owing to the fact that it's a bit big
for me (61cms). It's sat in my wardrobe for what must be a year now. I paid £30 for it so how about £25(ono) posted?

Thanks for looking,

If in doubt, assume the answer is 'NO'...

Re: Akubra territory
You know that you could shrink the leather sweatband down by a size if you want to?
Let me know if you want to know how.

Re: Akubra territory
Thank-God. I was about to buy it back.
That cost £60 new, cracking hat, I just looked a pratt in it with my round face. There is no excuse for a dull pocket knife. It merely shows a lack of initiative.

Re: Akubra territory
Great hats those.. I’ve got the kaki version... just one of 10 Akubras that I own. I buy direct from Australia.
It is a good idea to fit a chin strap (My Akubras normally ship with free chin straps) or a neck strap (the thing you see fitted to American Drill Sergeants hats that go across the nape of the neck). For fitting chin straps, some Akubras come with little loops just inside the inner sweat band and the chin straps can be fastened to those... otherwise it is a case of fitting an eyelet each side of the brim. You can have the chin strap in front lying across your neck or use the cord lock to tighten the strap behind your head... I have used this system in fierce sand storms in the Sahara and not had the hat come off.
When fitting neck straps, my preferred option, I make a couple of loops out of that strong black cotton cord (the sort you buy in shops that sell beads, incense sticks, African art etc.) and thread it between the inner sweatband and knot it off inside.

Hi Ludi, I've PMed Phil to give him first refusal. I think it's 60cm not 61. I'll send you a PM once I've heard from Phil.
It's a cracking hat, I'm defintely going to buy another one.

Re: Akubra territory
I have an Akubra “hat Jack” which is designed to keep the hat in the correct shape but it can also stretch a hat up a size or so.
