Re: Work in progress - If I remember. . . .
Oh,
Ran out of time tonight making this sheath.

To (hopefully) keep you interested, I've decided to post some pics of my workshop to give you an idea of where this is all going on. Sorry about the lack of knife pics.

Normal service should be resumed shortly!!
Cheers, Ian

A place for everything and everything in it's place?

I like the look of the larger knives you've got templates for. Got any pictures of them made up?

Re: Work in progress - If I remember. . . .
I'm back! Here we go again, and tonight we will be looking at the nightmare that is fitting a chute knife guard. Firstly tonight I ground the small false edge on the clip point. (and yes, I know a real one is sharpened
)

Then I set about the guard with some files. This part really is a nightmare! The blade has to be either perfectly parallel, or slightly tapered for it to fit, and obviously if you take out too much material you have to throw it in the hedge whilst shouting rude words.
At least thats what I do

If you've done a lot of trying, and some very careful filing, a good fit is possible.

Also important is that it fits square with the blade. If you have to remove any more at this stage, its swear word time.

Next up is drilling the holes for the pins.

I got a bit carried away on the next step, hence the sudden jump! Though I'm sure with a bit of imagination you can picture a fat beardy man with a dremel.
Like the drop point, it is important to fit it perfectly to ensure that no gaps are present when the guard is shaped. Luckily tonight - no gaps
. By the way - the grinds will be evened up after HT.

No workshop tomorrow
. Hopefully it will be time for name stamping and HT on Sunday. So far so good!!
Thanks for looking.
Ian
