First Sheath
After I made my second knife, it was time to make a decent sheath for it.
Thanks for looking

Re: First Sheath
Hi nice work, i really wanted to have a go at making a sheath after i lost one for a small scandi style knife i own. Silly question perhaps but would you say most people would be able to make something fairly decent, its just i cant imagine my first go looking anything like as good as your!

Re: First Sheath
That looks really solid and tough.
A question for you and anyone else: When you all make sheaths, do you consider how much of the knife handle is in the sheath and how much is out?
Does this affect how well the sheath holds the knife and prevents it from falling out by accident? The sheaths I have made recently all seem to hold the whole handle apart from the uppermost 4 or 5 cm.
I realise that the handle shape is important but what do you all think?
cheers

Re: First Sheath
I made one this week for a knife I handled. I'm dying it soon. The sheath holds the knife really solidly to the extent that you have described, it can be held upside down with no movement at all. The pictures are in my thread but here they are again anyway
I like the tool work line on yours and may try that next time.
I wanted to study history but there's no future in it.

Re: First Sheath
A very nice sheath Nektarios, the proportions look nice. Did you use a welt or a liner to protect the stitches? My first ones didn't, but a razor sharp knife is death to stitching.
Great work an I especially like the hanger tie off.
Best Wishes,
Gary

Re: First Sheath
How long did it take you to get such a crisp wet-form? I m anaged a wet-form but it's nowhere near as crisp as yours.
