Re: Review of Longstrider's sharpening service
Afternoon All
Well I should have done this weeks ago, apologies are due to Longstrider.
Sorry mate
I sent Ian my SAK Dual Pro, that I had treated myself to after joining the Specials (No not the band!)
I thought that the ability to open a rope/strap/belt cutting blade one handed might be useful in Road accident, or other more sad circumstances.
I had wanted to get the Dual Pro X, as it has a plain edge, the serrations on the Dual Pro main blade really turned me off
, however it was £20 more expensive, and had a screwdriver instead of a corkscrew.
Everyone needs a corkscrew
Solution, bought the Dual Pro, sent it to Ian
Voila, Dual Pro X edge, but with a corkscrew and vastly superior edge!!

Thanks Ian
Take care

Re: Review of Longstrider's sharpening service
I have an old William Rodgers Double Edge Stag handle scouts knife from my father and it was in a bit of a state having spent the best part of half a century or more in the garage unloved.
I sent it off to Longstrider for a bit of restorative TLC and I've got to say I'm far more than happy with the finished product and his service was amazingly fast.
So as a personal thank you to Longstrider for the work he has carried out on my Dad's old knife here's a couple of pictures before and after:

Next on the list is the sheath the knife came in. Watch this space for updates in a few months.
Thanks again Longstrider. Another very happy customer.

Re: Review of Longstrider's sharpening service
I sent a Condor Bushlore(old version) off to Ian and he has transformed a lump of nice steel and a bit of wood into a fantastic bushcraft tool
Its really a remarkable transformation and if anybody is stuck with one of those older Bushlores I recommend you get it sorted out You will not regret it

Just got my Owen Bush axe back from Ian who I commissioned to make an axe mask for it and give the edge his special treatment.
Absolutely top quality leather - big thick welt, excellent stitching and very nicely finished.
As for the edge, well, it was pretty damn sharp before. Now it's a mirror polish convex optimised for chopping
Lovely job, thanks Ian!

Re: Review of Longstrider's sharpening service
And he has done a Manix and a Chris Caine Survival Knife for me to....
Not been able to collect them yet, but will, his work is always exceptional, and well worth the wait (my fault as I live in Jordan(and don't trust the post), not his!).

Re: Review of Longstrider's sharpening service
Another thumbs up and many thanks to Longstrider for sharpening a whole lot of steel for me.
The cold steel kuk machete is now a very serviceable bit of kit and the roselli axe is simply superb -I can see my face in it as I shave with the kuk

Re: Review of Longstrider's sharpening service
If Carlesberg did convex edges............................................. ..............................................they wouldn't be as good as this.
A deserved bump for LS, who took my Swamp Rat Ruckie that i'd recently purchased which had a so so edge and a tip that had seen better days and gave it some of his special TLC.
