    Peace Keeper WIP

I just wanted to share this before it was done. The pics are not the best due to the lighting. This knife I am making for a young man in the US Army 10th Mountian Division leaving for Afgahnistan (sp?) in July. It is 1095, w2 finger gaurd, MyScarta scales ( green burlap ), with acid etched blade. I must have had the luck of the Irish when heat treating, I have 2 temper lines from one quench. I did use a different technique than normal (suggested to me to try from a MS). Here she is.

Considering there has been alot of hand to hand combat involving knives, bayonets and fists in Afghanistan, this is a potential life saver.

I have a mate who just finished one tour and they ended up toe to toe with Terry and it went to 'FIX BAYONETS!'.

I hope that convex edge comes back with light use.

Saw on the beeb yesterday some 10th mountain boys taking rocket fire. I have friends back in Helmand with the Grenadiers this year, some for the fifth tour. My wishes for them all.

Lovely knife - I really like your Mycarta.
There is no excuse for a dull pocket knife. It merely shows a lack of initiative.

Grenadier Guards saw their fiercest combat since ww2 in helmand provence. They are hampered some what by the ridiculous amount of kit they carry - upwards of 60lbs not including their body armour and helmet.

Afghanistan... dammit thats one hell of a place to have to go fight a foot war.

I am making a wood lined pouch style sheath with a lock at the finger gaurd ( from a small notch in the welp) It will be black with a nice concho on the front with some tooling.

I raelly like the convex edge, I have been working alot at that specific grind. It is close to a Moran style edge. 18 degrees at the ricaso and about 22 degrees at the point. Should be pretty easy to sharpen up ( if needed ) with a small wet stone in the feild. It shaves better than my mach 3 razor .
