Re: New Members & Lurkers, Welcome...
Hi and thank you for the welcome. My name is katy and I live in NE Iowa USA the land of corn and soy beans. LOL I live on a farm and raise sheep, chickens, and ducks. We have 5 working Border Collies, a mini donkey team and my cutting horse Annie. I have a small wool mill and a Fiber Studio and also sell and reapir anitque sock knitting machines. I also repair tarps, tie downs, leather harness,e tc.
I joined this forum to get some advise about buying another leather stitcher.
I have an American Straight Stitch which does a really good job but is limited. I have calls for repairing a lot of nylon, including harness and bridles, lead ropes, biothane. As you know I can't do that on the American. I have an opportunity to buy a Pearson but have been vavering and wanting to get a more modern machine like a Ferdco Bull. (long arm Juki 441) I just wanted some opinions from more experienced people than I. I am really torn as I don't like to do the nylon but making a living is making a living.
I also want to start making my own harness and custom chaps. Which I don't think I could do on the Pearson.
Any advise, experience, comments would be really appreciated.
Thank you,
Cheers,
Katy

to be fair i had been, shall we say, feeling a bit guilty for not posting here b4. i guess it's because i know its sometimes seen as a bit rude to 'lurk'.. which is why i posted in this thread you'll no doubt see me posting more often from now on (dont get excited, you'll soon wish i was still lurking)
you want my life story now or what?
that'll learn ya

Re: New Members & Lurkers, Welcome...
Hi y'all. I'm a newbie here. Member of lots of North American forums and thought I'd check out what's happening across the pond. I'm a collector of modern folders and otfs ( can I say otf here?). I don't carry - just collect. Canuck knife laws are the same as UK laws with the exception of cane swords. Legal as long as the blade is at least 12". I'm a retired Police Officer and acquired my first knife by way of a minor stab wound in the leg. Still have it and use it as a letter opener. Cheers.
