Re: New Members & Lurkers, Welcome...
Hello, Im new to knife making but find it facinating! Ive been lurking here for a few weeks. I've enjoyed using knives for quite a few years and am about to put a handle on a 3" bowie blade & will see how that goes.

Re: New Members & Lurkers, Welcome...
Hi there to you all. I have come seeking advice please. I am about to start making my very first knife. Well actually to be totally honest i am not making it, i got a superb "kit" from Paul Baker. It says in the instructions to use epoxy to help fix the scales to the tang - however i dont know what type of epoxy to use as there are so many available. I have read a few items and they seem to recommend Gorilla Glue. Will this do or can you recommend anything else. regards Adrian

Re: New Members & Lurkers, Welcome...
Hello to all,
I am a new member and recent knife maker.
I have been most impressed with the fabulous patterns and textures evident in Damascus steel knives. Importing both steel bar and knife blanks from the USA to produce wonderful knives (well I think so) also using Mammoth tooth slices for handle scales.
My other big hobby is guitar building. The offcuts of exotic woods are now usable for knife handle scales whereas the offcuts would have found their way to my wood burning stove prior to my knife making.
A good deal of my woodworking tools are usefull for knife work, I have a small workshop so no outlay has been needed.
I have joined British Blades to meet others to learn my skills and to show my knives. I would very much like to hear from any members.
Kind regards John (Birdseye)

Re: New Members & Lurkers, Welcome...
Hi everyone,
I am becoming excited on all the information I could add to both my skills and knowhow regarding blade from this forum. What interest me is the usefulness mixing the blade technology and woodworking technology which both are visibly present in the product. I am inclined in wood plane and I need the technique in blade sharpening for the plane iron while the blade also need the art of wooden handles of the blade.
Previously, I worked in merchant ships as chief engineer and been amazed with all the sharp toolsteels. I even tried to use old files and toolsteels for blade during those days. At present, I am teaching maritime education on technical courses. Time that I use for both blades and woodworks usually on weekends as part hobby. This is a nice way of relieving my tensions from office works.
Again, NICE DAY to all members. Any query that I can be off assistance will be welcome and answered to the best I can.
THANKS
