    A technical question

Not sure is this is the best forum but:
I saw a knife with the following specs 1/4'' pitch scalloped edge; what does pitch means, is it the distance between two ends of each scallop (whre it is pointy)?
    Many thanks

    Re: A technical question

Probably. It's a term more commonly used for screw threads, but it seems to have the same sort of meaning here; the peak-to-peak (or trough-to-trough) dimension of the serrations will be 1/4".

If it was a saw, we'd say it was 4 Teeth Per Inch.

Thanks a lot, sounds consistent with what i found on a mechanical engineering website. If you wonder why, it was about specs for industrial bread-slicing machine blades!
