Re: BundyMac Miniature Challenge :)
wow....2mm.......
this gone a be a " philosophycal thread" more than a miniature challenge....
this bring me lot of new informations about myself, about the material limits, fingers handle, concentration...... it'll helps me for my next creation ( a big one this time....not for this game )
everyone can try the game no matter you are a knifemaker or not...
is it right?
and I think I'll post in a french forum ( with permission )the same game then it'll be an international miniature knives challenge... why not !!!
anyway ... let's see this 2 mm one!!!

Re: BundyMac Miniature Challenge :)
This thread continues to amaze me.
I think that gathering all of the pictures together in a single post would be a good idea.

Re: BundyMac Miniature Challenge :)
Wow it is harder than i tought! I glued my fingers together, glued the knife to my finger and punt one scale to my finger! I lost one blade that jumped away, and ik lost my ruler to!
As soon as i can find a pincet (hopefully tomorrow) i show a picture.

Re: BundyMac Miniature Challenge :)
Tried again this pm.
3mm was the benchmark.
I'm finding several things very difficult.
Holding the "blade" being the main problem !!!
Dropped one almost finished on the floor of the workshop
Doubt it will ever be seen again.
Second attempt. Blade became so thin it disintegrated at the "tin foil" stage.
Most tools are way too aggressive when you get down to components of 1-2 mm.
Those who have produced anything resembling a knife less then 5mm are doing very, very well.
Note to self : Must try harder !

Re: BundyMac Miniature Challenge :)
not so easy.....
my last one is smaller than a grain of rice .... photo soon.....
as you said, notsharp... under 1 mil tools are too agressive for steel...I've got some idea to work on these size.............
but I still think I can make one around 1 mil blade....
it's absolutely crazy to do this but so funny!
the week end will bring me solutions

Re: BundyMac Miniature Challenge :)
a sub 1mm blade is possible, I've already made and lost 6 blanks
(if they get dropped, there's no chance in hell to find the lil sods, yesterday I lost one for 10 mins, it was in a crease in my hand
), but the wooden scales just desintigrate and the silver crossguards where nigh on imposible with my tools, I need to rethink the construction, materials and maybe make some new tools.
