    on the scrounge!

Need a small scrap of close/multi fold damascis to make a minature Kirpan for my son.
I dont see this thing being more than 20mm/1 1/2" in length so I need a scrap no bigger than 20mmx6mm. somthing like an end trimming or just that bit you threw in the bin.
Of course the finer the folds the better it will look to scale.
any body have something to small to use on a full sizer.

    Thanks chaps/chappesses.

Something that small may need a high layer count/pattern to see anything...I may have just the thing.......One of the first billets I made (at ABS school) has something like 1660 layers in.......but its so high a layer count , I didnt think it would show too well...so I can chop you a bit off and send it to you and you can decide..use it or bin it...though if you can wait a month from now, till after Blade Show, someone may be able to bring it back to the UK for you.

I will try and find it tomorrow..clean a bit up and etch it and see how it looks....How thick would you want it?

Stoney, I have one of the Ancientarms Damascus folders. Handmade in India.

If you can use it for your sons Kirpan then PM me your address and you can have it gratis.

    Re: on the scrounge!

Thanks for the offer Danz but isnt that a little extreme. cutting up a folder to make a miniture Kirpan. The beastie I will be making will be truely a neck knife that will be smaller than half a little finger. Worn on a chain it has to cut to be a real Kirpan but has a symbolic nature.

Thanks again for the offer but I dont think I could ruin a knife it seems such a waste

I found the billet I had...re forged it to a suitable size and thermo cycled it. I will clean it up tomorrow and etch it to see what if anything shows.
