    Randall and Sheffield

Picked up a box of WW2 Militaria and inside was a Ross Bayonet,Randall hunting knife and a Sheffield Eye Witness stiletto knife. The Randall has a Heisser sheath with clear red buttons and the knife handle has an aluminum cap.The eye witness has a 7 inch blade, slender leather handle.I would like to post pics but I'm not much of a computer person.I do have a photo bucket account if someone can simplify the process.I'm from Canada

    crisco,

If the Randall knife is original to the sheath, it IS quite valuable. Do NOT undersell it. That type Heiser sheath is what is known to Randall collectors as a: "RED EYE." The sheath alone, depending on condition, could be worth a considerable sum. Find someone who knows about Randall knives and be VERY careful!

Do Randall have a refurb service? If so, I would do exactly that.

    crisco,

If I had that Randall knife I would list it on eBay, just as it is, with lots of good photgraphs. You should show the spacers in particular, as well as both sides of the whole knife, along with the sheath and a truly good and complete description of both. If you do this correctly, I assure you that the bids will exceed $2,000 U.S. and possibly MUCH more? In fact, that would be my reserve price!

    Regarding Randall Knife
You should contact Mike Silvey author of several military books and military knife collecting books
    or
Robert E. Hunt who is an authority for collecting Randall Knives he has published "the Randall knives collecting bible"
Both are authorities and can estimate the value of the Randall knife plus sheath

    Crisco,

Highland dirk is quite right. Bob Hunt is especially well known for his expertise in the sale and collection of Randall knives. May I also point out that there is an association known as the Randall Knife Society. They have their own forum (Google the name) and an entry on there, by you, (with photo's) will quickly give you ALL the info that you will ever need about this knife and sheath. Furthermore, you will receive genuine REAL advice as well as several offers to purchase. My only advice would be: Don't take the first offer that comes along!

    Re: Randall and Sheffield

Hope you do real well out of that if you have genuinly found a treasure.

On the other hand as a cynical devils advocate (and apologies in advance to Crisco for questioning your integrity) but I also see a new member signing up with an extremely desirable collectors knife thats he just happens to remember might be good but describes some highly relavant details. Ebay is mentioned but someone may wish to preempt such a battle for a rare piece and decide to sneak in a good bid by PM.

You can see where I'm going with this I'm sure.

I really hope it's a genuine find and I hope a good collector gets a nice knife and Crisco gets a nice bonus from his box but anyone thinking of buying needs to be a little careful how the transaction takes place.
