Re: leather apron suggestions please!
For the money ive been more than happy with my Aldi 'powercraft' one, with a pair of gauntlets change from a tenner, iirc. Infact I bought a spare one, but it seems to be slowly getting chopped up for strops!
S-J, I dont see why your just saying google it??? on that basis you wouldnt have a forum to moderate. Seems a perfectly valid thread to me asking for advice on forge clothing? or am I missing something

Re: leather apron suggestions please!
I found that I was in need of one recently as well Duncan. More for grinding than forging.
Got a spare side of nubuck and cut a very rough one. Seems ok for now!
It's not going to win any awards for craftsmanship though!!
Personally I think you just need to make sure it covers enough of you but leaves you mobile at the same time.

John,
I definately feel that it's appropriate to pose a question but after looking to see if the information is already available.
Sometimes it feels that we can overlook the obvious research stages because BB members are so generous with their knowledge and experience.Last edited by grace horne; 21-01-10 at 10:17 PM.

i went big and spendy once and got a very nice one i think soft leather/skin only a half to cover from waist to knees as thats what i like to work with for normal forging and got a cheap big full-body leather one for tasks that need such protection.
here a link for the good one.

I allways wear mine with the top bit folded down behind the bottom bit (yeah, like a skirt
)
I wear it primarily to stop me catching fire when I grind a lot, and I like to think it would stop any exploding grinding discs hitting my nether regions!

Re: leather apron suggestions please!
I have one that I made myself. Not as if I have forge or a workshop though.. no, I just needed one for a costume party. Heh. The things you do when you are bored.

Re: leather apron suggestions please!
I use these, good quality and I prefer the strap system to the ones which hang from the neck.

consider a welders jacket as an alternative. gives you arm protection as well. Keeps the muck off . . .
