Need your input on a knife!
Hey guys
I need your input on a knife i want to get, but cant find.
1. It has to have a blade-length of max 70mm, and not one mm more.
2. Must be a slipjoint
3. Id like it to have a good steel such as s30v, 154cm, etc.
4. It has to cost about 130GBP max, maybe more for a fantastic one.
5.It has to have a nail-nick, and no thumstuds, flippers, holes or any other form for one-handed opening device.
6. A pocket-clip would be a giant plus!
Only knife ive found that fits the bill is the Fallkniven U1, and im not so sure its worth the 130-140GBP as ive heard some say its overhyped and small in size. Im gonna have to chew on the U1 for abit...
Does any one have a pic of the UKPK and U1 in closed/open comparison shiots?
Any suggestions on a knife? Cant it be true that the U1 is the only one that fits the bill?
Thanks guys

Re: Need your input on a knife!
Hmmm...the guy makes customs knives correct? Did a quick Google search as ive never heard of him before, apparently his site http://www.shingcrafts.co.uk/ is dead. Anybody got a link to some examples of his work?

If you do a search for "shing" on this forum you should turn up a few details...

more Shings , he doesn't have to put in Scagel holes

Cubane if you can wait a year

A Pennillion mod if you can get someone to part with one and don't worry about the high end steel, softer is easier to sharpen

Re: Need your input on a knife!
I considered the U1 for a while, but after handling it in the flesh I don't think it's worth it. I carry a Victorinox alox Solo, it takes a reasonably sharp edge, it is NKP friendly and easily replaceable if lost, the cheaper option also means that it gets more use, at least for me.
Spyderco DKPK?
I havent bought one because there's no retailers of it in Denmark that I know of. But it is on my list of things to get.Das Obengenannte ist nicht spülmaschinenfest.

Or a nice Queen slippy in D2 steel. Beware if you're not much on the sharpening though. They come rather dull and the D2 is a bear to tune.

Re: Need your input on a knife!
Here is the Gene Ingram Sodbuster thread, I think the blade is longer than 70mm and the price will be more than £150.

Have you thought about a Queen Country Cousin - does most of what you want for £15

Have a look at this thread, possibly the nicest slipjoint I have seen...

Fluffy - is the knife in your top pic, on the LHS a shing? It looks very nice, is it the same knife as in the third pic on the RHS? When it comes to slipjoints, you have some beauties.
