Re-handling a WS Woodlore. - Page 1
Posted by rapidboy on 01 February 2006 (18060 views) Rating: 2.82
This started out a while ago when a friend wanted me to rescale his Woodlore.
He chickened out but i liked the idea and decided to do one for myself.
I finally got around to putting it together today.

Take 1 bog standard WS Micarta Woodlore.

Drill out the bolts.

And boil for a few minutes.

After a few minutes the epoxy breaks down.

And the scales can be removed.

At this point i decided to spend a little time with a set of water stones from Axeminster to put a perfect flat grind on the blade.
I decided to use curly birch and black fibre spacer material on the scales.
I also wanted to replace the bolts with the type that are solid brass on both ends.

I drilled into the tang to give the epoxy plenty of grip.

This is after the epoxy has set and I'm about to start shaping.

First i sand down to the tang.

Then i start to profile the scales.

A sanding drum in a pillar drill is great for this work.

Then i use sand paper to finish working through the grades.

And it's done ,just needs soaking in oil for a while before a final coat of wax.

And a custom sheath.

Then it's straight to evil bay :D NOT
